We are recruiting: grants panel members

We’re looking for two NSUN members to be panel members for an upcoming grants programme.

Job description:

Reading through grants applications and extra information provided by grants officers

Attending up to three two hour meetings over the course of six weeks, where you’ll discuss what you read and make decisions on who will receive grants

Time commitment: approx 1.5 days spread out over six weeks.

Payment: £525 (based on £350 per day).

Closing date for applications: 5pm on August 8th. We will contact you by Friday 12th August to let you know whether your application has been successful. If your application has been successful, we will invite you to a meeting to learn more about the grants programme and meet the other panel members. We hope to publish the names and brief bios of panel members on our site; this is to reduce anonymity in the funding process, give credit to the grant panel’s work, and increase our own accountability and transparency.

We’re looking for members who have been part of user-led groups and understand their funding needs. For this upcoming fund we’ll be prioritising groups which are led by people of colour, people from the LGBTQ+ community, and young people (under 25), so we’re looking to ensure good representation from those communities on this panel too. Previous experience of grants making isn’t necessary.

Being a panel member will not prevent you from applying for funding, but you will have to recuse yourself from the decision-making process if you have conflicts of interest.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • A member of NSUN, with lived experience of mental ill-health, distress or trauma
  • Experience in user-led work, community organising, mutual aid and/or peer support
  • Comfortable analysing written information and able to meet deadlines

Desirable:

  • A person of colour, member of the LGBTQ community, or a person under 25

To apply, please fill out the online application form via Typeform by clicking here or scrolling down. Alternatively, you can download the application form by clicking here or down below and send it to ruairi.white@nsun.org.uk by 5pm on the 8th of August.
